Cookies!
Kevin and I used to go over my Grandma's house every year to make Christmas cookies. She would make different colored dough and we would make cookies out of it like you would play with play doh. I loved this yearly tradition so I thought I would start making the same cookies with Ethan. My mom came over to help and we made tons of cookies. We also decorated a gingerbread house. I think we were a little ambitious because Ethan didn't last very long. He made the first batch and then just wanted to eat the cookies.

Polar Express
Believe it or not, my Dad wanted to go on the Polar Express for his birthday. Fine with us! We read the book to Ethan a few weeks before so he would know what we were going to do. Then we showed him the movie...not such a good idea. He hated all the scary characters that Tom Hanks played. Good thing they weren't on the train.
He was so excited to go and loved seeing the train and The North Pole. He loved drinking the hot cocoa and eating his cookies. He loved seeing Santa and having him give him a jingle bell. He loved it most when we pulled back into the station at the end of the ride and he saw the Christmas lights moving by. He got so excited and yelled out "Look Mommy, we are moving!" Nice, he had no idea we were on a moving train the entire time. It was dark out the windows so he couldn't tell I guess. Oh, well....

Bundled up in his jammies

He was amazed at how the jingle bell worked. He played with the little ball inside forever.

Ethan Quote #4
Gagging while I type....
Ethan had his finger up his nose so Joe went to get him a kleenex.
J: "Where did the boogie go?"
E: "I put it in my mouth, so it is all gone now"
Nice

Breakfast with Santa
My friend Shari and I were in charge of throwing the our Preschool PTA's Breakfast with Santa this year. It was a ton of work, but it was well worth it. The kids all had a blast. Ethan actually sat on Santa's lap this time. The first time when we saw Santa at the mall, he would only sit next to him. He wouldn't look at him when he talked to him, either. He just shouted that he wanted a Choo Choo Train from across the room.

It helped that Santa had a big bag of cookies next to him for anyone who actually sat on his lap.

Ethan and Anna in front of the tree...how cute are they?

Their first dance...

Cousins?
Ethan has been all about playing with, wrestling with, hugging and kissing his "cousin" Chloe lately. He says she is her cousin. I tell him she is his dog and even if she were human she would be his sister. Either way, he now uses her as a chair, a pillow, and a pummel horse. We are only at the beginning of winter and we are already feeling very couped up in our house. Unfortunately, Chloe is getting the brunt of the extra energy.

Ethan Quote #3
I was questioning why he had his lunch bowl up to his mouth.
E: I am drinking the macaroni and cheese juice.

Ethan Quote #2
M: You should write Santa a letter to tell him what you want for Christmas.
E: I can write Santa lots of letters...A,B,C,D and E!

Neighborhood Leaves
I have been a little behind on my posts and just found these pictures I uploaded a couple of weeks back. The neighbor kids were all outside playing in the leaves. It is so much fun to have so many kids on our street. Ethan loves them all and it is impossible to keep him indoors when anyone is outside. Now that school as started he has to watch them come and go off the bus.

Here are a couple of Ryan and Kate that I took in the backyard also. Aren't they the cutest kids ever?

Happy Halloween!
Ethan wanted to be a kangaroo for Halloween. Here is the only costume I could find to fit him...don't mind the creepiness of the kangaroo face. It looks like it is eating his head. He didn't seem to mind though and has wanted to wear it all the time since we bought it.

Cutest ladybug ever!

Ethan had a lot of fun going from door to door saying "trick or treat". As soon as he got the first piece of candy, he wanted to go home to eat it though. We made it down the street and back before he couldn't hold out any longer. He had to get his hands on that candy!

Plumply Dumply Pumpkins
Great Grandma gave Ethan a book called the Plumply Dumply Pumpkin which is his new favorite. We went to Luther's farm to let Ethan pick a plumply dumply pumpkin to carve for Halloween and also to go on a hayride since we hadn't been on one yet this year. I always forget it is just right around the corner. He loved seeing the pigs, horses and especially the roosters. He was amazed that they actually said "cock-a-doodle-doo".
Here he is with the biggest tractor ever.

It was such an amazing fall day, too bad it gets dark so early now

Daddy and Ethan on the hayride

Hay anyone?

The pumpkin of choice

Joe was all about carving the pumpkins. Ethan was all about playing in the gooey mess.

Note the shirt Ethan is wearing. It is a glow in the dark skeleton. He told me that it is a "very pretty white color, but when you look at it in the other room (the bathroom with the lights out) it is a veeeerrry beautiful green". Oy

The finished product! A plumply dumply grin!
